How to read these numbers
The number under each patient is the number of hairs transplanted, which is how HIMG plans and prices its treatments. Many clinics, especially in the UK and Turkey, quote grafts instead. A graft is a small group of usually one to four hairs, about 2–3 on average, so 4,500 hairs is roughly 1,800 grafts. Bear this in mind when you compare results or prices between clinics.
Individual outcomes vary. Your result depends on your donor hair, hair type, the area treated and how your body heals. A doctor can tell you what is realistic for you after looking at your photos.

How to compare hair transplant results
Before and after photos are most useful when you know what you are looking at. Whether you are looking at our results or another clinic's, check:
- How many hairs (or grafts) were transplanted, and which of the two units the clinic counts in
- Whether the before and after photos show the same angle and similar lighting
- Whether the donor area at the back of the head is shown as well
- How long after the procedure the after photo was taken
- Whether the result follows a first or a second treatment
When can a result be judged?
Transplanted hairs often shed after 2–3 weeks. New hair usually starts to grow at 3–4 months, most of the result is visible at around 10 months, and the final result after about a year. Recovery month by month

Photos are not retouched. We show the donor area as well as the transplanted area, because a good result is also measured by how the donor area looks afterwards.
